The word Basmati is a Sanskrit word meaning 'fragrant'. Basmati Rice has been naturally cultivated in the Himalayan foothills from ages. Grown with natural cultivation techniques, it carries a distinct identity of Himalayan purity and is associated with the traditional use, knowledge, habits, dialects and celebration of the people who have cultivated it since ages. It is a long slender and aromatic variety that can be used for occasional as well as daily consumption. Due to increasing use of chemicals and introduction of the hybrid varieties, organic production of this famous rice variety has been reduced. Organic Basmati is still cultivated in parts of the Doon valley as well as some parts of the Terai region in Uttarakhand. It is procured by Just Organik from organic certified farms only.
